The Aeromedical Industry is going through a transformation. One upon a few years, aeromedical services were conducted by unscrupulous "brokers" who shopped around for the lowest prices but could care less about checking credentials or even, knowing the quality of the aviation services they found. This created a revenue stream for some operators who decide that lowering their prices close to a one-way ticket, would be an easy task and create more instant profits. What this transition presented were great opportunities for failure. Pilots were overtiemd in their legal hours, and sometimes forced to spedn 3 to 10 days at some given location waiting for a return trip. Since they had already lost the return revenue, they had no choice but to keep their crews at some hotel. Many times the flights did not materialize so they had to "eat" the loss. The FAA finally resolved to change the regulations. those who advertise in the Yellow pages or larga ads in magazines, better had their own FAA certificate..their own aircraft and be managed at the site of the management company. What was once a free meal for aviation companies that "rented" the certificate, it now became a burden and an expense that they brought on themselves. We, as providers of Medical support, medical teams, coordination and training, do not feel the impact becauise we comply with all the possible regulations. We do provide other air ambulance companies a fully certified team and medical equipment, however, it all falls under the responsibility of our medical director. But our management team pictured above, can be placed on any aircraft, private or commercial ...within two hours of a call. When aviation companies look for the value of their service, they seldom find it by placing a "doctor" and "nurse" from the local hospitals and with some sort of medical equipment that does not comply with FAA regulations, like monitors/defibrillators, ventilators and any other electronic device that could cause interference with navigation equipment. We can provide all the elements of quality care. We train our crews with the same program that is available to the armed, police and ambulance services in many countries, a course that is listed in the ICAO Website under Medical AirXpress. We also provide medical crewmembers for in-flight care of patients on commercial flights. We make all arrangements and supply our own Travel Agency to handle the details. Connecting with a company that does not provide a certification or acts as broker, is placing the life of an already compromised person, in a worse situation.
